Removed the forward-facing window in the front bulkhead and then cut out the rotten steel sections below the window.

Work today was limited but involved removal of the beading around the front bulkhead window, partially achieved and removal of the brass screws holding the left-hand side of the window frame to the woodwork.  Hopefully the window will be out tomorrow and I can deal with the steelwork.
