Stripped old steel cladding from the step frame, wich is constructed from steel angle and straps.  Grit blasted angle iron frame for entrance steps.  The uppermost step appears to be the original frame whereas the bottom step seems to have been added or replaced later.  The uppermost step frame is heavily corroded.  Some repair was required to the uppermost step frame where it had corroded through.  This was welded up as was some damage to the corners where I had to cut through the fixing rivets to remove the side plates.  A great deal of some sort of rubber mastic was removed from the lower step where it was jointed to the riser panel.  The riser panel was very crudely made so I removed it with a view to making a replacement tomorrow.

Cut steel for front bulkhead side of steps.  Next, I cut steel for side and back of step bay and put 90 deg fold in to from the shape.  The top side needs to be flanged to meet the floor.

Here are the parts that form the entrance step box:

Rearward end and back.

Adding the strengthening flange to the end piece. Rearward end and back.
