Only able to work for a few hours today but finished cleaning and stripping the drive hubs and gave them both a coat of Vactan.  Preparation for refitting included sanding off raised burrs around the bolt holes and cleaning out the grooves on the periphery of the mating surface.

Tightened the O/S hub nut, fit the locking screws, nuts and split pins to the hub nut and refitted the half-shaft.  Cleaned N/S drive hub, sanded off burrs on the mating surface (no doubt part of the cause of the oil leak from here) ,  removed the chrome and enamel AEC badge and stripped all remaining paint and rust ready for new paint.

Refitted rear hubs today, very difficult to get the the axle hub nuts back to their original positions and I didn’t achieve this on the nearside.  The manual says .004″ play is acceptable in the hub bearings  but I can detect none at all, maybe something to be checked again after a bit of running.  Nearside hub is fitted, offside is on but not tightened up.  I had to make a replacement locking screw and castellated nut, as each axle nut requires two and one was missing  when I stripped it all down.
