Started the week by applying a second coat of grey paint to the back of the new window frame. I noted that the weld-thru primer did not adhere well to the bare metal on the frame so I had to to rub it off. At this point I decided to glaze it, then repaint it with red oxide. Before I started to put the glass in, I removed the remaining seat cushions, cleaned them and loaded them in the car with the moquette for delivery to Ifor, which I did on Wednesday. Attempting to put the glass in revealed that the pane was just too big, so the original template was adjusted and a new piece ordered from Dunmow glass. I sprayed the frame with Jenolite red oxide then started on dismanting the emergency door; this gave me some difficulty with screw removal, requiring some drilling. It also revealed how rotted the emrgency door window frame was.

Painting in the cab is largely finished with the exception of the handbrake lever. The emergency door step has been finished and painted. Two new lengths of fuel pipe were fabricated to replace the porous and rusty originals. These have been fitted using brackets and p-clips made by me so they are no longer flapping about. The dynamo wiring has had the appropriate ends fitted and the dynamo connected up.

The panel work below the emergency door opening and the beading to the left of the opening has been fitted . The lino on the floor at the edge of the opening was rotten so this was cut back about 6″ and replaced with new lino which is a bit thinner, so I faced it with some diamond embossed tread plate and painted it to match the golden ochre on the floor. The cast step edge trim was derusted , primed and reinstalled. This needs another coat of paint o protect it properly. The wheel housing cover which was previously poorly fitted was undone and jacked into place and new fixings used. The cab step had a final coat of paint; all that needs to be done now is to paint the handbrake lever and pedals. A start has been made on making up the replacement fuel pipes in preparation for refitting the cab floor.
